Marthe & David Grohman — growing wholesome goodness
We operate a small berry, vegetable, flower, and tree farm in Hanover, Ohio. The journey has been a work of art, love, and life. Our farm began as Grandpa Giffen’s farm, encompassing his love of the land and family which he passed down to his children and their offspring. The farmland has been in David’s family for four generations. Aunt Mary planted the blueberries and cultivated them with tender care. The berries are grown using no chemicals and are joyfully made into jam in our kitchen using Best Agricultural Practices.
We began making blueberry jam and giving it away to family and friends as gifts during the holidays. Martha planted the raspberry plants on the little hill above the blueberries and thus we incoporated them into the jam. Our farming enterprise has grown from there.
At first, we started a small vegetable garden to raise fresh produce for ourselves. It evolved into a bigger garden so we could grow for the local farmer’s market. We studied, read a lot of books on farming, attended seminars, and gained confidence in our growing skills.

“…the care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy and, after all, our most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it, and to foster its renewal, is our only legitimate hope.”
— Wendell Berry
